Thread

A thread is a connected series of posts that tell one story or argument in sequence, mostly on X or Threads.

A thread is a chain of linked posts published in sequence so a longer idea unfolds across multiple short entries, common on X (Twitter) and the Threads app. It matters because it lets you go deep within a short-post platform while each entry stays scannable, and a strong first post can pull readers through the whole chain for outsized reach. Threads are used for storytelling, step-by-step guides, hot takes, and case studies. Effectiveness is measured by the first post's engagement, thread completion, bookmarks, replies, and profile clicks or follows it generates.

Examples

  • An X thread breaking a launch story into 8 connected posts
  • A Threads app step-by-step guide spread over several entries
  • A founder sharing 10 lessons learned as a numbered thread
